Top champions · nightly leaderboard

We show you which champions are real.

Our mutation engine surfaces top champions every night. Anyone can post a leaderboard of winners — we put each one's gaudy backtest next to its out-of-sample result and its deflated Sharpe, and label it REAL, WATCH, or LUCK.

Case study: a "champion" that looks perfect — and why we don't trust it

Flawless — and meaningless. It's the best of a large population measured on a single day. Three coin flips come up heads ~12% of the time; in a population of hundreds, dozens look perfect by luck. The only test it can pass: freeze it and run it forward on hundreds of unseen days. That frozen-forward verdict is the column that matters here — not the backtest.

What they do well · wrong · how we fix it

✓ Strengths

  • Catch strong directional days with asymmetric runners
  • Adapt sizing to volatility automatically
  • Exploit real intermarket dislocations

✗ Failure modes

  • Overfit to the regime they were bred in
  • Flatter on a single split than in walk-forward
  • "Perfect" small-sample records that won't repeat

→ The fix

  • Walk-forward gating before funding
  • Deflated-Sharpe haircut on every headline
  • Deploy the survivors, retire the lucky
